Call for Guest Editors

Galilæana seeks proposals for themed issues led by a guest editor (or guest editors). Themed issues should consist of 4-6 papers and will be published in the ‘Focus’ section of Galilaeana. Any theme that falls within the broad field of Renaissance and early modern science, including the history of medicine and the history of technology, is acceptable.

How to submit:

Proposals should include the title of the themed issue, an abstract (maximum: 500 words), and the cv(s) of the potential guest editor(s). The abstract should describe the proposed topic, the editors’ goals, and the relevance of the proposed topic to the history of Renaissance and early modern science.

Guest editors can choose between the two proposal formats listed below:

1. Open call for papers

Guest editor(s) should provide a call for papers. They will then be responsible for disseminating the call and selecting the papers.

2. Closed proposals

Guest editor(s) should send the titles and abstracts of 4-6 proposed papers (maximum: 250 words), together with the names, scholarly affiliations, and cvs (maximum: 1 page) of the authors.

Proposals should be sent to gal_focus@museogalileo.it. Submissions are accepted at any time of the year. They will be subject to approval by the editors of the journal. Guest editors will be informed of the journal editors’ decision within 8 weeks of their submission.

The journal welcomes proposals from potential guest editors at any career stage, although previous experience as a published author and excellent knowledge of the field of the proposal are required.

The timeframe for publication may vary, but publication is anticipated 12-18 months after the proposal is approved.

Papers received by the journal will be subject to double-blind peer-review.
