Call for Guest Editors
Galilaeana encourages submissions of proposals for themed issues led by a guest editor. Themed issues should comprise of 4-6 papers and will be published in the ‘Focus’ section of Galilaeana. Any theme that falls under the broad field of Renaissance and early modern science, including the history of medicine and the history of technology, is acceptable. Recent Focus sections are available on the Journal’s website.
How to submit:
Proposals should include the title and a presentation of the proposal (maximum 500 words). The text should provide information on the subject, its relevance for the history of Renaissance and early modern science, and the scholarly aims of the Focus. The potential guest editor(s) should also include their 1-page cv.
Both ‘closed proposals’ comprising of commissioned papers and ‘open calls for papers’ are acceptable. In the first case, the guest editor(s) should send the titles and abstracts of the papers (max 250 words), together with the name, scholarly affiliation, and 1-page cv of the authors. Alternatively, guest editors should provide a text for the call for papers, and they will oversee the process of disseminating the call and selecting the papers.
Proposals should be sent to gal_focus@museogalileo.it. Submissions are accepted at any time of the year. They will be subject to the approval by the Editors of the journal. Guest editors will be informed of the Editors’ decision within 8 weeks from their submission.
The journal welcomes proposals from potential guest editors at any stage of their career, although some previous experience as a published author and excellent knowledge of the field of the proposal are required.
Timeline for publication may vary but it is anticipated taking between 12-18 months once the proposal is approved.
Papers received by the journal will be subject to double blind peer-review.
